Indeed that is true. I was tempted due to what the extension purported to offer! I was maybe getting a bit cavalier in adding in some extensions to enhance the forum now that I'd gotten it all up to date. Its a lesson learned. As a general rule, it is not recommended to install an extension that is not compatible with your current version of phpBB on a production board. Especially if this extension was developed for version 3.1 boards and it has never been upgraded! The last one I installed was the Failed Logins extension by Tas2580. It never installed correctly. There was a red warning panel in the extension manager page. I removed the extension.
I did note that it wasn't as up to date however I thought it worth the risk as its purpose, if it worked, was what I was looking for to assist in monitoring who may be trying to login to the forum so that I can assist them if they are having difficulties. There are quite a few elderly or non tech folk who I am trying to encourage to use the forum so I want to be able to see if they have actually tried to login at all.
Thanks for your input. Things are functioning now.
However in the Extension Manager there is a residual message for the now removed extension (See attachment) Would this be another cache issue as the actually files for the extension were deleted already?
